So today's Advent fibre is from the Jacob sheep.
Fibre Colours: The natural colours are white, grey, black, brownblack, and brown.. Im spinning what looks like brown black
Feel in hand: It has a super spongey soft feel.
Fibre prep: I'm not sure if I will card on my hand cards or just spin it as is.. I'll probably just spin it in the roving form.
Smell: It has a lovely smell to the fibre the sheep smell is not overbearing. It has a sort of dusty but clean sheep smell.
Fibre uses: I think this fibre will be great for jumpers, beanies, shawls, etc as it has a softness that I like.
Historical facts: Conservation breed. Native to England. Has unusual straight horns and a multi coloured springy fleece. The different colours in a single fleece can be different lengths, texture and create a tweed effect.
Next to skin feel: I like the spongey soft feel, its soft on my neck and its definitely soft enough that it doesn't have an itch factor just a slight prickle.
Fibre Luster: Its more like a pretty deep rich matte colour.
Staple length: 3" to 7"
Microns: 25 to 36
