Fibre Colours: The natural colours are Black and very dark brown. I spun up black.
Feel in hand: Soft and a bit hairy but also a nice crisp and spongey feel.
Fibre prep: I'll probably just spin it in the roving form.
Smell: It has a lovely smell to the fibre the sheep smell is not overbearing.
Fibre uses: Maybe to weave or for outerwear knits , blankets etc.
Historical facts: Originates from Scotland in the Hebrides. They are multi horned and have exceptional dark fleece. Related to the primitive sheep brought to the Hebrides by the Vikings.
Next to skin feel: Its got a scratch feel when held near my neck.
Fibre Luster: A lovely pretty sheen.
Staple length: 2" to 8"
Microns: 29 to 38
Hebridean spun yarn details:
Spun on my Kromski Sonata - using the whorl size 10 to 1

Worsted (10 WPI)
27.9 Meters
It has a definite pretty sheen and the twist shows up wonderfully. If I hold it near my face and neck I feel the prickle from the guard hairs.
Would I buy this fibre again.. Maybe - but not to make next to skin knit items maybe to use it for a bit of lovely dark colour in an outer knit that doesnt touch my skin.
Would I knit with it.. Yes but not to knit a whole item with it.
