Boxing Day phang spinning

Well I had a lovely Christmas yesterday. If you're reading this I hope you did too. This month I bought myself two beautiful Lair of the Bearded Dragon phang spindles with some of my December birthday money but decided to keep them as gifts for Christmas. Ive been practising on them as Ive never spun on this type of spindle before.

The top is a beautiful Tulipwood that weighs 30grams and the bottom is Cherry wood with a really pretty Paua shell inlay. It weighs 33grams.

I also bought the pretty little ceramic spinning bowl and I do have other little ceramic bowls but the spindles do spin so nice in it.

I might post some progress pics on Sunday as I'm hoping to have made some decent singles by then. I can tell Im so used to production wheel spinning so learning to slow down and relax and just enjoy myself while my hands do all the work and not be on auto spin mode is a completely new feeling.

I think spinning on a wheel had become like driving a car. I get in sit down and go.. and now I'm like a learner driver again learning what all the bits do and how to make it all click together and its quite fun learning to spin all over again.
